In the Perspective of The One Who Lost

Almost,

When in your palms you held,

The summer air and the winter chills,

With the bird’s song of spring coming,

And in your eyes flowed water,

Trickling in spheres of moonlit sheen,

Perhaps then or perhaps it was later,

That I, meek as I am,

Obscure to a fault, my significance,

That I, only as I am,

Worthy only when your eyes say

That I, even as I am,

Almost had you –

If only had I not forgone the chance.
