Shineless: Revamp

Maybe one day, the winds no longer will
Feel the need to greet me
With gusts of your name,
These whispers of your presence,
And the caresses of your smile,
all that which remains to spite me,
A trinket in your sea of jewels.
Maybe one day, the colors will cease
To paint me your portraits,
In oils of earthen colors
And pastel warmth of childhood,
Lining your eyes in ageless mirth
And drawing curls around your lips,
Then untouchable,
Now but a few lifetimes away.
Maybe one day, the stars would stop
Dancing in your eyes,
And the moon will glow brighter –
Better than your laughter,
And perhaps then
I’ll be content with my graying walls
Against my gradually graying skies,
And I shall no longer find the need
To want you in the peals of the wind,
Or in the atoll of my slumber;
Because you, on that day,
Will be shineless.
